Course Description
Through the analysis of a generic range of texts this course will establish the importance of the Bible to Renaissance culture and will provide a strong foundation for further studies in English and American literature.
Grading:
A research portfolio must be submitted in week 9 and a final research paper in week 18.

Course Objectives
By the end of this course students will have a deeper understanding of the culture out of which English literature emerged and be able to engage in current debate about the enduring impact of the Bible on Western culture more generally.
